Introduction & Overview

The Auxiliary builds community support for the fire department through its four areas of focus: community outreach and education, provisioning, recognition, and fundraising,

Community Outreach and Education: The Auxiliary is dedicated to increasing fire safety in the district by sponsoring events to educate and reach out to residents. Its annual Fire Safety Sale and 24/7 Online Fire Safety Store help residents cost-effectively keep home fire equipment up to date. The twice annual New Resident Welcome events and monthly New Resident packets get fire safety and mountain living information to new residents within a short time of move-in.

Provisioning: Auxiliary members provide food and drinks to first responders for emergencies, as well as training and maintenance events, allowing the emergency workers to stay on the scene where they are needed most.

Recognition: With an all-volunteer department, the Auxiliary’s role in planning and implementing recognition events for all branches of the department builds morale and thanks department first responders for their service.

Fundraising: The Auxiliary raises funds to support the work described above and provide much needed financial support to the fire district for expenses outside its budget. Currently, the primary fundraiser hosted by the Auxiliary is Boulder Mountain Handmade, an art, craft, and bake sale that bringing together artisans from the fire district and front range.

Over 70 men and women of the fire district participate actively in the work of the Auxiliary. Another 60+ work on events and contribute in various ways throughout the year.

This manual is designed to provide an overview of the Auxiliary’s work and to support Auxiliary members in full participation in the organization.
