Become a Member

Join the Auxiliary and become part of a diverse group that supports our volunteer firefighters and district residents. Learn about BMFPD, volunteer your time and expertise, and meet interested, like-minded neighbors!

Auxiliary has opportunities for  ongoing leadership roles in the following areas, and also MANY opportunities for residents to "drop in" to a volunteer spot - like: putting up signs, taking photographs, delivering items from the Community Safety Store to customers in the district, writing thank-you notes, and more. If you've reached a point in your career where you have time and interest in an ongoing role, or are able to commit a little time to a given project, Auxiliary welcomes you to our ranks.

Provisioning

Join the team that provides food and beverages for incident responders on site,  and for scheduled fire department trainings and meetings. Twenty volunteers work in teams to deliver food and drinks to incidents or stations, under direction of the Incident Commander. We train once a year, and make a two-year commitment. We have a manual and a Slack channel to keep us connected and working as a team.

New Resident Welcome

Whether you're a new resident to our community, or a long-time "mountain dweller," getting involved with our New Resident Welcome activities is a great way to meet your neighbors,  and help them get off to a good start. Volunteer for our New Resident Welcome program and help conduct semi-annual safety briefings, develop the information in our Welcome Packet, and help landlords and tenants with household safety.

Boulder Mountain Handmade

The Auxiliary's premier fundraising event, the Boulder Mountain Handmade Market each fall features talented local artists. Work starts in the spring, as we recruit artists and sponsors. Help conduct our marketing campaign, help customers at the market, cashier, take photos of our event, coordinate performers and help in myriad ways to make this the successful event and fundraiser it has become.

Community Safety Fair

At the Auxiliary's annual Community Safety Fair, our district residents can learn more about fire safety, test their fire extinguishers, tour fire engines, practice putting out a real fire, and purchase life-saving equipment for their homes. Volunteers develop the education programs, invite speakers, moderate panels, stock information tables, serve customers, feed volunteers, cashier and take photos of our event.

Outreach and Education

Help share valuable knowledge by volunteering for Outreach & Education. Plan educational events, organize social gatherings in your community, or bring your own ideas for reaching and educating more of our community about fire safety and mountain living. Past topics have included Living With Wildlife, Home Insurance (with United Policyholders advocates), and Before the Power Goes Out. Ideas for future topics are welcome!

Recognition

The Recognition team helps host the Department's annual Celebration Dinner, where responders' milestones and achievements are recognized. Throughout the year, we conduct Thank You campaigns to reminder our emergency responders that we appreciate their commitment to our community's safety.
