March 28, 2025 - Mike Palamara to Become BMFPD's Next Fire Chief

Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District (BMFPD), a large fire district northwest of the city of Boulder, proudly announces the promotion of Mike Palamara to fire chief designate. Palamara will assume the role of fire chief on January 1, 2026, upon the retirement of John Benson, the district’s longtime fire chief. “We are thrilled to announce Mike as BMFPD’s next fire chief,” said Bob Loveman, BMFPD board president. “Mike has proven his leadership abilities and brings new perspectives and a proven track record in wildfire mitigation and emergency response, and in leading firefighter teams locally and nationally, which aligns perfectly with our vision for the future.” Loveman added, “We thank Chief Benson for his 23 years of distinguished service to the district’s communities and beyond.”
